    SONGMICS Hanging Chair

A macrame swing chair is a woven cotton rope seat hung from a spreader bar or a steel ring, usually with a cushion and a long fringe. The first number to check is the weight limit, which runs from about 264 lb to 500 lb in the listings here, and it only holds if what you hang it from is as strong. Screw a ceiling hook into a joist, never into drywall alone, or use a beam, a sturdy branch or a C-shaped hammock chair stand. Next, check what hardware comes in the box: some chairs include a ceiling plate, anchors and a chain, others only a rope and an S hook, and a stand is almost never included. Cotton rope is soft and breathable but absorbs water, so bring the chair and cushions in when it rains or the rope can mildew. This guide compares seven chairs using only what each Amazon listing states. Nothing here was tested by us.
